Report Concerning the Application of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. OMCT regrets that the Ethiopian authorities have failed to supply information of importance in their report, particularly concerning the de facto ill-treatment or torture of children and de jure protection and penalties applied to officials or agents of the State responsible for violations perpetrated against children, conditions in which children are detained.

Ensuring the promotion, respect and protection of women’s and children’s rights is a priority in the human rights agenda because both women and children remain disproportionately at higher risk of human rights violation.

Key strategic interventions areas include legal review and research/investigation of systemic violations; monitoring compliance with national and international standards; empowerment and mainstreaming as well as fostering partnership with all stakeholders.
